“……It is rare when advertising becomes part of pop
culture. Jude A. Olinger, president of Olinger Group, a New Orleans
ad-testing concern, says such savvy marketers as Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser and
McDonald's have jettisoned strong advertising in favor of new directions. The
danger, he says, is that the next campaign may not generate as much buzz. For
example, McDonald's last memorable campaign, which made its debut
in 1997, used the tagline 'Did somebody say McDonald's?' The chain's subsequent
advertising has been mediocre.”
